Honeymoon

Hello there!

Alright, not going to lie, the best part of planning a wedding is planning the honeymoon. The questions people ask when you are getting married are as follows 1) Have you set a date? 2) Did you get a dress. And drum roll pleaseee 3) Where are you going on your honeymoon? With all this said, thats a loaded question. Where are we going to celebrate our first days, weeks, or month as a married couple? For a long time, we had no idea where we wanted to honeymoon. Part of the reason was because we have traveled a bit, and we wanted it to be special. I also had one demand. That my butt would be on a beach with a drink in hand. And oh did my husband deliver.

First, my biggest and best advice I can give you in the world is work with a travel agent. It costs you NOTHING (usually), and it literally takes planning a trip away from you while you are planning the biggest day of your life (shout out to Chelbi Jordan, you are the real MVP). You tell the agent where you want to go, your dates, and what you want to spend. Then you are there, with your butt on the beach and a drink in hand and all you did was send some emails.

For our honeymoon we went to the BEAUTIFUL St Lucia. We stayed at Sugar Beach Resort and let me tell you: hands down, the best trip of our life. Here are the top things we did (mainly) at Sugar Beach, and in St Lucia.

On our very first morning we had to take a taxi to town because none of our luggage made it to St. Lucia (yea, they don’t exempt you from things like this just because its your honeymoon) We needed bathing suits and some supplies. We stocked up on local rum and snacks (plantain chips for the win!). We had a spa appointment that afternoon and with a spa in the trees, how could you go wrong?

Day two meant beach time. Ally found a local guy who delivered fresh fruit to the beach. He literally paddled over in his canoe with fresh fruit and a machete. If you’ve never had fresh cacao before, I know a guy. Turns out your honeymoon is mostly about eating as much as you want and drinking champagne. Ally ate poached eggs in creole sauce for breakfast every morning, it was seriously that good! Almost every night we ate dinner at the Bayside restaurant (shout out to Kami!). We even got Thanksgiving dinner!

Further adventures during the week included snorkeling, a trip to the mud baths (a must), and visiting the literally steaming volcano in the center of the island. We had another spa day (treat yo’self!) and spent whole days on the beach. The staff at Sugar Beach was amazing, making us feel welcome and cared for during our entire stay. Probably the bougiest part of the trip was having a staff of butlers we could call anytime we needed anything. So bougie, but again, treat yo’self.

Rock Gods

The honeymoon is seriously the absolute best way to decompress after the stress of planning a wedding, and you get to spend every minute with your new hubby/wife! We found St. Lucia to be an amazing destination full of kind-hearted people and was totally relaxing. I think we can both safely say that this was one of the best trips we’d ever taken.
